MAY 27, 2010: The roadwork was completed this afternoon. The dust suppresant will be applied soon.

Remember the owl that Monte Holland rescued from his garden’s deer netting last fall? Today, we had another rescue. The neighbor’s dog was trying to rouse a large snake near our garden. I asked Harold Kinsey to come and see if he could identify it. It was lying white-belly-up. Harold said it was a black snake, and asked for scissors. He managed to cut the netting around the snake, which then slithered off under—and perhaps into—a nearby hemlock tree.

MAY 21, 2010: The Laurel Mountain Park pizza party (fundraiser for the pool) was a great success. Neighbors met neighbors, and conversations continued on at the end of the evening. Thanks to all who attended or did take-out! Thanks to the committee for sponsoring the party, and to Green Top Fundraising for donating the pizza.

MAY 18, 2010: Roadwork was progressing well until the rains hit. Be patient, residents, be patient.

Congratulations to Donnell Wilson, who sent me seventeen pages of reminisces of the time he spent on Locust Rd. in Laurel Mountain Boro, 1934-1952. He wrote from Texas.

MAY 16-17, 2010: Who saw the banner in Michael and Sandy Murawski’s yard (directly across the street from the Pool and Shelter House)? It’s no secret that Sandy Murawski turned 40 on May 17. Wish her well if you see her.

MAY 9, 2010: Laurel Mountain Borough lost a long-time resident, Eleanor Barbaras, today. To read her obituary, click on: Eleanor Barbaras
