A group of 14 brave souls gathered early at the Laurel Mountain Park shelter house in weather so cold they tried to get into the shelter house while waiting for the walk to start. However, the door to the big room was unlockable, although efforts were made to open it:
The walkers were participating in a Santa Hat Event, which began with an almost-one-mile walk along the Borough roads. Alice Grasso led the walkers who, in spite of the weather, strolled casually along Locust, Beechwood, Walnut, Maple, White Oak, Laurel and Hemlock roads.
