Laurel Mountain Borough Santa Hat Walk 2013

Filed under: LAUREL MOUNTAIN PARK ASSOC.,LMP NEWS — laurelmountainboro @ 10:52 pm

A group of 14 brave souls gathered early at the Laurel Mountain Park shelter house in weather so cold they tried to get into the shelter house while waiting for the walk to start. However, the door to the big room was unlockable, although efforts were made to open it: IMG_4325E

The walkers were participating in a Santa Hat Event, which began with an almost-one-mile walk along the Borough roads.  Alice Grasso led the walkers who, in spite of the weather, strolled casually along Locust, Beechwood, Walnut, Maple, White Oak, Laurel and Hemlock roads.

Can you guess the identity of this woman waiting to start walking?

Hallowe’en Party Oct. 26, 2013: Photos

Filed under: PHOTOGRAPHS — laurelmountainboro @ 3:00 am

On October 26, 2013, the Laurel Mountain Park shelter house was filled with strange creatures of all sizes. Who knew where they all came from? Below is a selection of photos taken by Carolyn Cornell Holland (and yes, I DO share ancestry with Lizzy Borden—as many of you doubted as I ran about with an axe. But then again, so does Ezra Cornell, founder of Cornell University. I’ll leave it to y’all to decide If I’m an Ezzy or a Lizzy…)

LMP Kiosk Dedicated to Ann Woodall

LMP KIOSK DEDICATED TO ANN WOODALL

Laurel Mountain Park board members are pleased with Jason Miller’s Eagle Scout project—a kiosk on the side of Walnut Road on the Park property.

They are also pleased with the involvement maintained by former resident Anne Woodall, who now resides in Ligonier Township.

The two pleasures came together on October 7, 2013, when Ann and Jason were honored guests at a tea held at Gretchen Griffith’s home and hosted by the Park board.

Jason chose his Eagle Scout project because of his past connection with Laurel Mountain Pool. He swam there when he was younger, and considers the pool is the best-kept secret in Laughlintown.During the time Jason was seeking a project members of the borough and Park Association were considering constructing a kiosk as a communication tool for the community.

Sue Crouse, resident and member of Laurel Mountain Borough council, supported the sign to increase visibility of community meetings and events for both residents and visitors.

The sign was dedicated to Ann, who with her late husband Robert, raised their family in the Borough. Throughout the years they not only enjoyed the benefits of the pool and shelter house, they (more…)

APRIL 23, 2013: It is that time again–the need to clean the pool area and surrounding grounds. We hope to see you on Saturday at 9 AM. Remember to bring yard and cleaning tools in order to get everything whipped into shape for the summer. Thanks in advance for your assistance! Sue

APRIL 18, 2013: The Mizikars have offered Laurel Mt Park, Inc the opportunity to make some money by selling candy bars. It is an easy way to help the pool pickup a few hundred extra dollars as we start our season. But we need some people willing to take a box of candy bars on our behalf and return the money. There are 60 bars in every box in assorted varieties.

If you work in a place with customer or employee traffic, and are willing (and able) to set out a box of chocolate bars, please offer to help!
