Adolph Gross was a former resident ofLaurelMountainPark, onMaple Street
Adolph Gross , 92, ofPittsburgh, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 24, 2012. He was a resident of Atria Senior Living inPittsburgh, where he received care for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. He was the loving husband of the late Eleanore Adams and Elaine Steiner, and was a special friend to Audrey Kaminski. He is survived by his son, James (Rev. Beverly), Betsy (Eliberto) Bermudez, John (Mary Rose), William (Tambria), and David (Jane). He was the cherished grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 6. Adolph was born inHomesteadin 1919. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945. He was employed at US Steel until his retirement in 1982. He volunteered at Eye andEarHospitalandJeffersonRegionalMedicalCenter. He was a member of the Elks, the Thompson Run Athletic Association, and numerous AARP and senior groups in the Homestead Area.
He purchased the little yellow cottage onMaple Street in 1958 (currently a white cottage atop the hill), and enjoyed summer and fall weekends and vacations with the family until the 1970’s. He always spoke fondly of those lazy days with family and friends at “the cottage”.
