Public Comment:

Mrs. Light asked that council check into alternate forms of accounts for borough funds so that interest income can be maximized. It was also suggested by Mrs. Light that activity on all borough accounts be provided as part of the treasurer’s report. After discussion council secretary will provide account detail for all borough accounts at each meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report:

It was noted that the deductible on the insurance for the police department is $1,000. It was also noted that the borough was added as an additionally insurance when the original agreement was put in place.

Municipal Services Committee:

The tree remains to be removed at the corner of Walnut and Hemlock, this will be done when weather improves, Mr. Holland noted that he and Mr. O’Brien should be able to remove this tree.

Mr. Holland recapped expenditures and projects undertaken by the Municipal Services Committee in 2009, they included:

Snow plowing – $2355

Road Repairs $8796 (includes a onetime culver cost of $1200)

Repair Stone for potholes $132.45

Calcium Chloride $4410

Tree Removal $425

Leaf Removal $1200

Electric $336.81

NEW BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report:

Due to the early January meeting, no police report was available.

It was noted that the deductible on the insurance for the police department is $1,000. It was also noted that the borough was added as an additionally insured to this policy when the original agreement was put into effect.

Municipal Services Committee:

Mr. Holland reported that potholes were repaired shortly before the snow and the repairs have held.

It was reported that Dave Berkey has been keeping the roads in decent shape, anti skid has not be necessary to date.

There are two trees up the hill from Maple on White Oak that need to be removed by a tree service company. Scott Matson will be contacted regarding this work when weather improves.

He noted that areas most in need of repair in the spring have been identified. There were fewer areas than last year. Some areas that were previously troublesome are now in decent shape.

Finance Committee:

A motion was made by Mr. Griffith, seconded by Mr. O’Brien to appoint Regis Tomsey to audit borough records for the 2009 fiscal year at a cost of $800.00 – carried.

Ms. Snyder noted that council will likely have to consider raising real estate tax for 2011 in addition to trying to keep costs down.

Ms. Snyder is still working closely with PAMS to make certain all residents are paying per capita and earned income tax.

Other:

Ms. Snyder thanked Mr. and Mrs. Light for decorating the entrance pillars.
