Borough of Laurel Mountain Minutes

Regular Monthly Meeting Held July 15, 2009

Present: Griffith, Kinsey, Snyder, Mayor Light, Solicitor MIller

Absent: O’Brien, Holland

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm with a quorum present. The minutes of the June 17, 2009 meeting were approved as corrected. The following reports were submitted to council:

Public Participation: None

OLD BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report: No old business

Municipal Service Committee:

The Beechwood Road project has begun, the contractor is using extra caution as the WMWA was unable to mark waterlines because of the movement of the road oer time. Rob Crounour will be out to oversee the contractor performing the work.

It was necessary to contact Scott Matson for the removal of a dead tree before the project began; this was done at an approximate cost of $150-$175. A motion was made by Mr. Griffith, seconded by Mrs. Kinsey to retroactively authorize the removal of a dead tree in the way of the Beechwood Road Project at a cost of up to $200 — Carried. There is a second tree in the Beechwood Road Area; a motion was made by Mrs. Kinsey, seconded by Mr. Griffith to authorize the expenditure of up to $300 for the removal of the dead tree on Beechwood Road – carried.

Finance Committee: None

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Miller requested that council review both the Sewerage and Comcast agreements and be ready to take action on both at the August meeting.

No new information has been received on the unclaimed property.

Other:

Council will defer action on the sewerage agreement until the August meeting.

Council will also act on the Comcast Franchising agreement at the August meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report:

Mayor Light reported that during the month of June the police logged 5:42. Calls for the month include one ambulance assist and a domestic call which was resolved by the time the police arrived. County investigators have collected DNA samples from the borough resident they suspect wrote the threatening letter.

Municipal Service Committee: No new business

Finance Committee:

Ms. Snyder reported that the budget is looking good but noted there are several areas which are higher than expected, this includes road work.

Solicitor’s Report: No new business
