Borough of Laurel Mountain Minutes

Regular Monthly Meeting Held February 4, 2009

Present: Griffith, Holland, Kinsey, O’Brien, Mayor Light, Solicitor Miller

Absent: Snyder

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm with a quorum present. The minutes of the January 21, 2009 meeting were approved as corrected. The following reports were submitted to council:

Borough of Laurel Mountain Minutes

Regular Monthly Meeting Held February 4, 2009

Present: Griffith, Holland, Kinsey, O’Brien, Mayor Light, Solicitor Miller

Absent: Snyder

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm with a quorum present. The minutes of the January 21, 2009 meeting were approved as corrected. The following reports were submitted to council

BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report:

Mayor Light reported he met on February 14 with Ligonier Borough Council to discuss 2009 Police Service. It was noted the agreement will be the same as last year. The agreement was reviewed by Solicitor Miler who raised two questions, the first is whether the borough should carry additional insurance to cover any liable violations and the seconded question was regarding foreign casualty insurance . After additional discussion, it was determined that the two issues were not significant and that council would execute the agreement by original ordinance renewal. A motion was made by Mrs. Kinsey, seconded by Mr. Griffith to renew the original ordinance contracting with Ligonier Borough to provide police protection to the Borough of Laurel Mountain. Carried. The executed agreement will be forward to Ligonier Borough.

Municipal Services Committee:

Mr. Holland reported that bids were solicited for the repair of the White Oak Culvert with a not to exceed price of $3000. A verbal bids was received from Dave Berkey of between$900/$950 the B&B Bids was $1154.

Mr. Holland reported that roads held up pretty well, pot holes will be filled as soon as weather breaks.

Mrs. Kinsey reported that Dave Berkey has plowed frequently to avoid ice build-up on roads.

Finance Committee:

In the absence of Ms. Snyder, Mrs. Kinsey reported that two quotes were received for the 2008 audit, the first quote of $1,500 from Rae Ann Tronetti and the seconded from Regis Tomsey for $800. Council will appoint an auditor at the March meeting when Ms. Snyder is present.

Solicitor’s Report:

A motion was made by Mr. Holland, seconded by Mr. Griffith to advertise the Uniform Construction Code Repealer Ordinance for action at the March Meeting – carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mayor’s Report: None

Municipal Services Committee: No new Bbsiness

Finance Committee: No new business

Solicitor’s Report: No new business

Other:

The Tribune-Review delivery driver has complained about road conditions in the borough.

1. Appointment of Regis Tomsey – Auditor

Solicitor’s Report:

1. Building Code Repealer Ordinance Action

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm.
