LMP, Inc. Report:
The pool is up and open, usage so far has been running lower than this time last year.
Mayor’s Report: No old Business
Municipal Services Committee:
Mrs. Kinsey reported that the road work has been complete. She apologized that it was not done as quickly as anticipated. Weather conditions and another large job undertaken by Berkey made it necessary for his crew to work in the late afternoon and early evening hours. Mr. Holland noted that there are areas in the borough that need more crowning. It was suggested that this work might be undertaken when fall maintenance is done. Mr. Griffith suggested that Mr. Berkey contacted to determine if #2 modified or the #2B modified as stipulated was used on the roads. There is still a pile of 7 or 8 tons of stone remaining for pothole repair.
There was concern voiced over the repair of the waterline saddle due to rusted bolts at the Crouse property. It was noted that Ligonier Construction made repairs to that waterline about one year ago, if at that time they noted the corrosion the responsible thing would have been to call it to the borough’s attention and that repair would have been made with the original work.
The dust suppressant has been applied by JMG Industries just prior to a rain storm.
Ms. Snyder reported that she has talked with Rae Ann Tronetti regarding borough audits. These reports will be submitted to council at the August meeting.
Solicitor Miller will complete the work on the ordinance regulating the use of Outdoor Furnaces in the borough. This Ordinance will be presented to council at the August meeting then advertised and voted on at the September meeting.
Council secretary was asked to check with Higbee Insurance to obtain a cost for an insurance rider to cover volunteers working on behalf of the borough.
Mr. Griffith reported that he has received only one bid for the engineering study for a water pressure system. This was a bid of $5,000 received from Gibson-Thomas Engineering. Council will defer action on this matter for the present time.
Mayor’s Report: No report
Municipal Services Committee: No new business.
Finance Committee: No report
Solicitor Miller reported that many of the municipalities originally contacted with Middle Department Inspection for building code inspections have opted to use state inspectors vs. the private agency. Solicitor Miller will look into the procedure of opting out of a contraction with a licensed inspector.
A motion was made by Mr. Griffith and seconded by Mr. Holland to appoint Philip Light to serve as mayor of Laurel Mountain Borough due the resignation of John Goughnour – motion carried.
