OUT & ABOUT DECEMBER 2007

Filed under: OUT & ABOUT — laurelmountainboro @ 1:20 am

DECEMBER 28, 2007: LMB learned of the Christmas Day death of resident Elizabeth Frye. For more details click on the Vital Statistics category.—About fourteen boro residents enjoyed a double open house hosted by Beth and Fred and Sue and Ben. The food was delicious (eg. Slices of beef wrapped around goat cheese, stuffed mushrooms and a cake made by Beth’s mother). Those attending found it was a good opportunity to get to know their neighbors better.—The third scheduled spot at George and Cindy’s was cancelled due to George being ill. We hope his health improves soon.

DECEMBER 25, 2007: We hope everyone had a nice Christmas, peace and joy for the holiday. — To see eight new photos click on , click on http://www.flickr.com/photos/lmborolmpark/ —seven are Christmas lights and decorations in the Boro, and one is of the new Boro council members being sworn in. — The council meeting was conducted at the Laughlintown Community Center, notice being given in the newspaper, posted on the LMB Park shelter door and E-mailed to council members (we didn’t receive this information until the last minute since our computer was fatally down and we were dealing with replacing it!) — Remember to respond to the “Holiday Fun Raising” triple-open house on December 27—if you need RSVP information call Carolyn or Monte at 724 238 3493, and we will provide the details!

DECEMBER 22, 2007 All LMB residents are invited to a “Holiday Fun Raising” on December 27. See HOLIDAY FUN RAISING invite in the announcement category for details.

DECEMBER 17, 2007: I forgot to mention—there will be a public meeting time set apart at the December 19 Boro council meeting, for public comment on the 2008 budget. Again I state that this will be a good meeting for any and all residents to attend. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

DECEMBER 15, 2007: LMB council meets Wednesday, December 19, 2007. The new council members will be sworn in. All Boro residents are welcome to attend this or any other council meeting.

DECEMBER 12, 2007: Evelyn and Richard moved into LMB from Rector in October. Originally from Whitehall, they are the parents of five children (living in Cranberry, South Carolina, Washington D. C. and Allentown, PA) and ten grandchildren. Welcome them to the community.

DECEMBER 6, 2007: We extend sympathy to Craig Miller on the death of his father, Myers W. Miller on December 4. Myers, a Bethlen Home resident, was born May 21, 1906. Severan residents attended the visitation at Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home in Swissvale, Pa. —Sympathy is also extended to former resident, Peg, whose dog, Missy, also died on December 4.—Have we had enough snow? click on http://www.flickr.com/photos/lmborolmpark/ to view pictures taken earlier this week

DECEMBER 1, 2007: The Beanery Writers Group, under the direction of Carolyn C. Holland, announces its first printed booklet, BEANERY WRITERS Volume 1, 2007. It’s 40 pages are writings by group members. Copies are available from Carolyn (724/238-3493), any Beanery Writers Group member or at the Second Chapter bookstore on East Main Street in Ligonier. It is priced at $3.95 for the booklet alone, or $4.70 for the booklet, a special occasion (Christmas, get well, birthday, anniversary) insert and a mailing envelope…On a different note, our computer died and my laptop is at the computer hospital.
