Laurel Mountain Borough resident Elizabeth A. Frye, 81, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1926, in Monongahela, to the late James and Marie Dean Leaver. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1944, Columbia School of Nursing and California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a degree in nursing education.
She worked as a registered nurse at the former Charleroi-Monessen and Monongahela Memorial hospitals before retiring in 1987 from her job as director of the Area Agency on Aging.
In Monongahela, she belonged to the First Baptist Church.
Elizabeth A. Frye is survived by her husband, James Frye. They married on October 25, 1947. She is also survived by two sisters, Lucetta Haywood, of Monongahela (Ginger Hill), and Jean Kish, of Eighty Four, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Woodford Leaver.
Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela (724-258-6767). Services, officiated by the Rev. Bruce Moses, will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December. 29, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
