Merry Christmas! May you have a safe and joyous holiday!

As winter storms approach, our snow-covered roads may become more hazardous. The barrel has been placed near the State Road entrance with anti-skid material in case you find the Walnut Rd. entrance slippery at any time this winter. Working together we can keep our roads safe.

The Laurel Mountain Borough reorganizational meeting (and the monthly meeting also) will be held at the Laughlintown Community Center on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 7:30 PM. Borough residents are welcome to speak in public comment periods at the beginning and end of the meeting.

The Borough Council will be made up of three re-elected members (Joseph Griffith, Jr., Dan O’Brien, and Mary Jane Snyder), a newly elected member (Thomas Adair), and holdover Monte Holland. The re-elected mayor is Phil Light. The borough secretary/treasurer is Taryn Ankney and the solicitor is Jeff Miller.

In succeeding months the Laurel Mountain Borough Council meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM. The meetings are in Laughlintown in February and March and will return to the shelter house in April.

ANNOUNCEMENT: LMB COUNCIL MEETING DEC. 19

The December meeting of the Laurel Mountain Borough council is scheduled for December 19, 7:30 p. m. at the Park building.

I know I placed this information in the OUT & ABOUT column, but it bears repeating since there will be time set apart for public discussion on the budget, and the new council members will be sworn in.

LMB council meets Wednesday, December 19, 2007. The new council members will be sworn in. All Boro residents are welcome to attend this or any other council meeting.

This will be a good meeting for boro residents to attend. I encourage those who are new to the community and those who have never attended a council meeting to attend.

Borough Council meets at the Laurel Mountain Park, Inc. shelter house the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM. The meeting is open to all residents. There is a public comment time before and after the meeting.
